Den Painting Advice To Use in Palos Verdes Estates, CA.

When you have a den in your home, one thing that you may want to do is to find ways that you can possibly improve the look of it.

For example, you may just want to take the time to paint the walls of the den and what you should know is that if you take some time to learn about some basic tips and techniques, your den will look a lot better at the end of the project and it may even be that the whole thing will cost you a bit less.

With that being the case, let’s look at some den painting advice to use in Palos Verdes Estates, CA.

1. Look At Furniture For Color Ideas

One thing that you’re going to want to do when you are looking to paint your den is to have a good look around at the furniture and then see what color or colors would work well with those.

If you find, for example, that the furniture is largely brown, it would be a good idea to see what wall colors would look good with it.

You can get a feel for how nice the new wall colors will look by trying out actual paint samples and not just getting strips of paper that have the color printed on them – these will not properly represent the color as well as getting small samples and painting the wall.

2. Using Primer Before Paint

An important element in painting your den is to make sure that you first apply a coat of primer before you apply the first of possibly two or so coats of paint.

There are a couple of reasons that you’re going to want to do this, one being that having the primer on before you apply the first coat of paint makes it significantly easier to apply that first coat of paint if of course you first properly allow the primer coat to dry.

Secondly, you will find that your painting project is going to last a lot longer if you first take the time to apply a coat of primer prior to the paint coats because the primer that you apply is significantly better as far as being adhesive and getting paint to stay on it than the bare surface underneath it.

Between these two things, you are better off applying a coat of primer first and then applying your first coat of paint.

3. Allowing Surfaces To Fully Dry

A key thing that you’re going to want to do when you’re looking to paint your den is to ensure that you allow your surfaces to fully dry before you move on to the next step in the project.

Some might try to rush through painting and just partially allow surfaces to dry, but then problems that you will get by doing this far outweigh the benefits that you might see upfront by getting the paintwork done sooner.

Specifically, you will find that you have paint problems if you try to apply paint to a moist surface, and these are going to be the sorts of paint problems that will hang around until you take the time to fix them – which will be its own lengthy process.

4. Clean Before You Paint

Lastly, remember that one of the first things that you should do in getting ready to paint your den is to fully clean it.

This doesn’t just mean getting rid of any sort of junk that may be hanging around the den, though of course, it would be a good idea to do this.

Rather, this means that you will want to clean up any dust that might kick up during the painting process, or that may be on the surface that you are going to paint, such that you later won’t see that dust in the paint that you apply to your walls.
