Kitchen Cabinet Painting On A Budget In Palos Verdes Estates, CA

In making your home look better, you are going to want to sometimes look at how you can get the same look — an improved look, that is — for less money.

When you’re updating the look of your kitchen, for example, you may already be aware of the fact that you don’t have to replace your kitchen cabinets — sometimes you can get them to have a new look just by painting them.

However, did you know that here too there are ways that you can improve upon the budget of the project and still have the end result look spectacular?

Here are some tips for painting your kitchen cabinet on a budget

1. Do Not Rush The Painting Process

One thing that really causes people to spend more money on their painting project than is necessary is when they rush through the painting process.

This does not necessarily only mean that you should not rush through the actual painting of your cabinets, though of course here you certainly want to take your time and make as few mistakes as possible (many of which are caused by painting too quickly!)

However, this more specifically also refers to the way in which you prepare to paint — are you going to protect surfaces near where you are painting, and are you going to shop around for deals on your equipment and paint?

If you don’t do these things, it’s entirely possible that you will end up spending more money than necessary

2. Think Long Term — Get Better Paint

One way in which people try to save money when they are painting is to get cheaper paint, but the way in which this comes back to get them is rather unfortunate.

Though it is true that upfront they may find themselves having a painting project that costs less, after a couple of years it’s quite possible that they will have a look at their cabinets and realize that they need to be painted again and it is purely because they used cheaper and lesser quality paint.

By using better quality paint, you may have to spend a little more upfront but you will find that overall the paint will last you longer and stay better looking for a longer period of time.

3. Seek Donated Paint

There are organizations that will help people who have been displaced from homes or who in general are having a hard time with housing and they will at times have stores where people can purchase things at a discount — these being things that were donated for the purpose of helping them raise money.

When you find such stores run by these organizations, they will sometimes have donated paint and the good thing is that they will come at a discount, as mentioned above.

The only caveat to buying paint like this is that you don’t have the big selection that you would when you are looking at a paint store — but it’s entirely possible that having a restriction like this will inspire a different sort of creative way to paint your cabinets.

4. Minimize Colors

Lastly, though it should be fairly obvious, is if you are not able to get paint at a reduced price for whatever reason, you should try to reduce the number of colors you use in your painting project.

The fewer colors you use, the fewer cans of paint you ultimately are going to have to purchase — and remember that with some colors, you will have to use different kinds of primer to cover the cabinets that are being painted.

You can likely get away with making use of just one color and still having really nice looking kitchen cabinets.
