Rancho roots, post-war neighborhoods
Carson sits on land that was once part of Rancho San Pedro, the Spanish land grant deeded to Juan José Domínguez, and the city incorporated in 1968. Large tract neighborhoods went up after World War II as the area's defense and port industries grew, so many homes are now 60 to 75 years old.
