A refinery town with a small-town feel
El Segundo, Spanish for “the second,” was named for Standard Oil's second California refinery, built here starting in 1911. The city incorporated in 1917, and the refinery, now Chevron, still sits at its southern edge.
Close to the coast
With the beach just to the west, El Segundo homes see marine air and morning moisture. Caulking gaps, priming bare wood and using exterior coatings suited to coastal conditions help a repaint hold up.
Older homes and remodels side by side
El Segundo's residential streets mix original homes with remodels and new builds. Matching trim, siding and existing finishes cleanly is a big part of making a repaint look intentional.
